World Humanitarian Summit
The World Humanitarian Summit (WHS) is an initiative of UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. The Summit, which will take place in Istanbul in May 2016, will bring together governments, humanitarian organisations and the wider global cummunity to discuss new ways of working together to reduce hardship around the world.
It has been almost 25 years since the last global discussion on humanitarian action. In the lead up to the Summit the global community has been hosting regional consultations to gather perspectives, priorities and recommendations on what needs to be done to make humanitarian action fit for the future.
As part of the global consultation series, Soapbox developed a series of illustrative maps, which provided stark insights into the number of people exposed to sea-level rise and flooding, as well as the regional impacts of weather and climate-related disasters.
