WeKnitWaterloo outdoor exhibition

WeAreWaterloo is the business improvement district for the Waterloo area of South London. Their WeKnitWaterloo project was all about ‘knitting the area’s high streets together’, and promoting the markets and small businesses around Lower Marsh and The Cut.

The project involved local people, businesses, volunteers and visitors coming together to create knitted panels for display in shop windows. These designs show the unique character and nature of the local businesses, and the district as a whole.

To celebrate 6 months of the WeKnitWaterloo project, Soapbox worked with WeAreWaterloo to design an eye-catching outdoor exhibition, to be placed in Emma Cons Gardens in the busy heart of Waterloo. Stands and panels explain the history of the area, and explain the current project to passers-by.

The highlights of the exhibition are the knitted ‘jackets’ we designed for three trees in the park. We worked with the craftspeople at Natty Peeps to produce these large, bright patterns in wool, which draw attention to the exhibition and complement its visual style.
