British Academy Schools Language Awards – rebrand

As part of the British Academy’s mission – to support and champion excellence in the humanities and social sciences – they are committed to helping increase the range of languages learnt in the UK and encouraging greater numbers of students to take those which are commonly offered in schools and colleges.

The British Academy Schools Language Awards (BASLAs) are a UK-wide awards scheme designed to support schools to implement imaginative new ways of encouraging more students to take language learning to higher levels, and to address the social imbalance in the profile of language learners at higher level. The Award scheme seeks to identify and stimulate good practice in this area which can be shared more widely.

Soapbox have been producing the awards programme every year since 2012, and in 2015 we were tasked with redesigning the look and feel for the awards materials. We introduced a stronger brand identity, based on a playful and bright approach that would engage a younger audience.

We rolled out the new identity across all the awards day collateral, including the programme and other printed matter.
